Hi, I’m Janie!
I’m a therapist who believes healing doesn’t have to be stiff or scripted. My clients come to me when life feels like a lot—especially around infertility, grief and loss, trauma, postpartum, or when the weight of feeling just becomes too heavy to carry alone. Together, we come up with tangible strategies to cope with life’s ups and downs.
I bring a laid-back, honest, human approach to therapy. Yes, we’ll get into the deep stuff. Yes, I’ll use evidence-based tools like EMDR and CBT to help you feel better. And also? We might talk about Taylor Swift lyrics that hit too close to home, the book you can’t stop thinking about, or that one podcast episode that completely unraveled you. I love holding space for all of it.
Therapy with me is real, warm, and unapologetically human. I won’t just nod and “mmm-hmm” you for an hour—I’ll show up fully and invite you to do the same. Whether you’re navigating grief, anxiety, identity shifts, or just trying to make sense of your brain, I’m here for it. We’ll laugh, we’ll cry, and we’ll get through it together.

LCSW, LSCSW, LICSW, CSW, PMH-C
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 10 years of experience working with adolescents and adults in Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, and New Hampshire. My clinical work primarily focuses on perinatal mental health, mood and anxiety disorders, and trauma.
Prior to my work in private practice, I earned my Masters in Social Work at the University of Missouri - Kansas City. I began my career at a Kansas City area non-profit, focusing on early childhood mental health with young children and their caretakers. While becoming clinically licensed, my work shifted to working with mothers experiencing postpartum depression and anxiety. During this time I received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) from the Beck Institute in Philadelphia. Since entering private practice, I have completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through EMDR Consulting. I also earned my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International.
Outside of the office, I spend time with my husband, son, and our two pit-bulls (Betty White and Sam). I love to read all different genres, and I’ll talk books any day, any time. I’m usually listening to Taylor Swift or a podcast, watching everything on Bravo, and eating at the best “hole in the wall” spots in Kansas City.

I’ve chosen not to work directly with insurance companies in order to provide the most personalized care possible and avoid the limitations that insurance plans often place on mental health treatment. Insurance companies can require a diagnosis and sometimes dictate the type, frequency, or length of therapy sessions. By working together privately, we’re able to focus entirely on your unique needs without interference.
That said, I’m happy to provide a superbill—a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement. If you have questions about this process or want help understanding your benefits, I’m here to support you.
